The English steamer Greyfield, drawing 18 feet of water, marking her way close to shore to avoid the Gulf Stream, grounds on the reef just opposite Norris Cut. Several hundred tons of coal are thrown overboard and with the help of the steamship Miami she is floated and proceeds. (15 May 1903)
