The British steamer Winifred appears to be on Florida Reef, visible from Miami through Norris Cut. The launch Barracuda and other wreckers pour out of Miami ready to fill their empty pockets but return just as broke. The ship had to heave-to for repairs after a pump broke off Careys Fort [sic] Light. Winifred anchored to avoid going on the reefs. (30 Aug 1904)
